ORIGIN Meetings and Site Selection was founded by Austin Horn after 20+ years in the hotel industry.
Austin grew up in the town of New Canaan Connecticut, located 50 miles north of New York City. He began his hospitality career in 1998 behind the front desk of a 127 room Sheraton Hotel in Norwalk, CT. currently the EVEN Hotel by InterContinental. In less than a year he was promoted to Group Sales Manager and was negotiating room blocks and meeting space for corporate groups between 10-100 guests. The following year, his sales team won the Hotel Sales Team of the Year award, within all of Waterford's 25 Hotel properties.
Looking to grow his career in meetings and special events, his next step was a promotion to Director of Membership and Events at the Saugatuck Rowing Club in Westport, CT. The SRC is owned by the Winklevoss family, from the movie "The Social Network" detailing the true story behind the development of Facebook at Harvard University. Austin was responsible for all club and member events, doubling the membership base in 2 years. After his 3rd year at the SRC he relocated to Boston, where he's held Senior Management positions with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, HEI Hotels, Sonesta Hotels and Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces. Within these properties, Austin was responsible for multi-market business development, daily business review meetings with executive committee members, lead generation, creating and negotiating group booking contracts, hotel site inspections, creating detailed proposals for Fortune 500 companies, meeting management, event design, menu planning, banquet team management and audio visual design. During his time as a hotelier, Austin generated over twenty million dollars in hotel revenue and has won multiple awards such as - Most business generated and booked within the Starwood Hotel brands, eastern region - Team Hot. Now he enjoys helping his clients by utilizing his vast hotel experience to save them millions!
Austin has a strong passion for anything hotel and travel related. His career has taken him all over the world to destinations such as Spain, France's Bordeaux and Dordogne regions, all over Italy, Indonesia, Mexico, throughout the US, Hawaii and Caribbean.
