Hotel Site Visit Scheduling

If possible, you should experience the top 2 hotel properties as a guest before signing any paperwork. We will schedule your site visits with the hotels on your shortlist and will arrange a complimentary one night stay for the decision maker *based on availability. Terms may apply. 

*If someone from your company can't get away to do a hotel site inspection, we can travel for you and conduct the site inspection on your behalf. *Travel charges will apply.

ORIGIN's Founder and President

ORIGIN Meetings and Site Selection was founded by Austin Horn after 20+ years in the Hotel, Meetings and Events Industry. 

BIO: Austin grew up in the town of New Canaan Connecticut, located 50 miles north of New York City. He began his hospitality career in 1998 behind the front desk of the Sheraton Hotel in Norwalk, CT. - currently the EVEN Hotel by Intercontinental. In less than a year Austin was promoted to Group Sales Manager and was negotiating room blocks and meeting space for groups from 10-100 guests. The following year, his sales team won the "Hotel Sales Team of the Year" award, within all of Waterford's 25 Hotel properties for most overall group revenue booked.

Looking to grow his career in the special events arena, Austin accepted a promotion to Director of Membership and Events at the Saugatuck Rowing Club in Westport, CT. The SRC is owned by the Winklevoss family from the movie "The Social Network" depicting the creation of Facebook. Austin was responsible for all club and member events, doubling the membership base in 2 years. After his 3rd year at the SRC he relocated to Boston in 2003 where he's held Senior Management positions with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, HEI Hotels, Sonesta Hotels and Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces. Within these properties Austin was responsible for multi-market business development, creating and negotiating group booking contracts, hotel site inspections, creating detailed proposals for Fortune 500 companies, meeting management, event design, menu planning, banquet team management and audio visual design. During his career in the industry, Austin has generated over ten million dollars in hotel revenue and has won multiple booking incentive awards such as "Most business generated and booked within the Starwood Hotel brands eastern region- Team Hot"  Now he enjoys helping his clients save millions!

Austin has a strong passion for anything hotel and travel related His career has taken  him all over the world to destinations such as Spain, France's Bordeaux and Dordogne regions, all over Italy,, Indonesia, Canada, Mexico, throughout the US, Hawaii and Caribbean.

This is how hotels recognize professional intermediary companies and honor their requests. 


What sets us apart from the rest

There's an urgent need in the marketplace for hotel site-selection companies that aren't built around pyramid business models, which consists of novice reps trying to help unassuming companies negotiate with experienced hotel sales teams, bearing little to no result. These independent contractors have to split their small commission with the umbrella company. This means "churn and burn."  Get the most amount of groups booked no matter the end result. The most concerning part-  they don't require their "experts" to have any hotel experience! 

This is where we separate ourselves.. However, it's just the tip of the iceberg. 

Our feeling is,, unless you've worked in a hotel, on a hotel sales team for at least 5 years, claiming to be an expert can be misleading. In our opinion, there's no classroom training that can compare to the experiential knowledge and skill needed to offer inside guidance on multiple hotel types, while also negotiating legal contracts with seasoned hotel sales teams.
